Spinal cord injury / paraplegia

Rebuilding from what remains.

A spinal cord injury changes the connection between brain and body — but rarely all of it. With intensive active loading and patterning we rebuild strength, control and independence from everything that is still reachable.

What it is

Spinal cord injury, in plain terms.

A spinal cord injury interrupts the pathways between the brain and the periphery — affecting movement, sensation and control below the level of injury. Injuries can be complete or incomplete, and the picture differs for every child.

We work intensively above, at and below the level — activating preserved pathways, protecting range and alignment, and building strength and independence. Active loading, suit and suspension work, stimulation — dosed and measured to the child.

Subtypes we work with

Presentations we work with.

We have hands-on experience with the variants named below — and with many rare types that don't fit neatly into any of them. If your child's diagnosis isn't here, please reach out: we work with complex and rare cases every day.

Complete spinal cord injury Incomplete spinal cord injury Paraplegia Tetraplegia / quadriplegia Non-traumatic (medical) SCI Post-surgical spinal injury

How we work with it

Intensive, hands-on SCI rehab.

We work intensively around the level of injury — activating preserved pathways, protecting range and alignment, building strength — practised in focused blocks and tracked with objective measures.

No generic templates. Every plan is built around one child's level, completeness and goals — and rebuilt as they recover and grow.

SCI questions, answered

What SCI parents ask us.

Can function improve after a spinal cord injury?

Especially in incomplete injuries, intensive active work can build strength, control and independence. We measure baseline and progress and set realistic goals together.

Is intensive therapy safe for my child?

We grade loading and use suspension and support so your child can work safely at the edge of their ability, coordinating with your medical team.

How often should we do intensive blocks?

Many families do periodic intensive blocks with therapy in between. We'll recommend a rhythm at assessment.

Will insurance help fund it?

Often, via Krankenkasse or IV/AI pathways. See insurance & funding — our parent liaison helps with the paperwork.

Not quite a match?

Doesn't your child fit this profile?

We work with all kinds of children. If your child's condition or diagnosis isn't exactly what's described here, reach out anyway — we'll happily answer your questions, and we look forward to speaking with you.
