The methodology
Using serial and dynamic casts, we apply gentle, sustained positioning to a tight joint and renew it in stages. Each cast holds a little more range than the last, gradually lengthening tissue without force.
Method · Apexi Dynaflex Casting
Serial and dynamic casting — gentle, staged casts that patiently restore joint range and reduce tightness, so active therapy has more room to work.
What it is & why
Serial and Apexi Dynaflex casting are non-invasive methods that use light plaster casts to gently stretch shortened muscles, correct foot positions and improve joint mobility — Dynaflex casts are semi-rigid, so the child can keep standing and walking.
Why we use it. We use casting to win range and reduce tension gradually — often helping a child avoid or delay surgery, and complementing botulinum-toxin therapy.
The how & the why
Using serial and dynamic casts, we apply gentle, sustained positioning to a tight joint and renew it in stages. Each cast holds a little more range than the last, gradually lengthening tissue without force.
Restoring range and reducing contracture gives every other method more to work with — a foot that can reach the floor, a knee that can straighten — so loading, alignment and active practice become possible.
Candidacy
Children with tightness or early contracture limiting range — often alongside cerebral palsy or after surgery — where staged casting can recover motion.
Casts are applied gently and staged carefully; the aim is steady, comfortable lengthening, not force. We monitor closely.
The new range is put to work immediately with active therapy — see how it fits the ORCA Method.
"Casting buys the range; active therapy makes it permanent. The two belong together."
— Lead physiotherapist, Apexa QLA

Part of one architecture
Casting works at its best inside the ORCA structure — applied at the right time, for the right goal, alongside active therapy for your child.
