Therapy explained
What are TheraTogs?
A wearable system that gently guides your child's posture all day long — here's what TheraTogs actually is, how it works, and who it can help.
If a therapist has suggested TheraTogs™ for your child, the name alone doesn't tell you much. In short: TheraTogs is a soft, wearable garment-and-strapping system that keeps working on posture and alignment long after a therapy session ends. Within our ORCA — Objective Reasoning & Clinical Architecture — framework, it's one of the tools we reach for most often, because it turns ordinary hours of the day into gentle, continuous practice.
TheraTogs at a glance
TheraTogs is often described as a breakthrough in neuromotor and sensorimotor retraining. It's a registered FDA Class I medical device and CE certified, and it's meant to be used under the guidance of a physician or a certified physiotherapist — not bought off the shelf and guessed at. Think of it less as a brace and more as a second, smarter layer of muscle memory your child wears under their clothes.
Quick facts
- FDA Class I medical device, CE certified.
- Worn discreetly under everyday clothing.
- Fitted and configured by a certified therapist.
- Works all day — not just during the therapy hour.
How TheraTogs work
The garments are lined with a gentle elastomer foam that grips the skin softly without pinching. Onto that base, Velcro®-ready outer fabric and elastic strapping let a therapist build a completely individual configuration — gently repositioning the trunk, hips or limbs into better alignment. Because your child wears the system through normal daily life, the body gets thousands of small, repeated prompts towards healthier skeletal, joint and muscle alignment. That constant, low-intensity input is what therapists mean by retraining: the body slowly makes the better pattern its new default.
The GoldTone fabric
The material itself matters. GoldTone™ is a patented, latex-free composite fabric developed by TheraTogs Inc. in the USA. It's prized for its strength, durability and "rebound" — the ability to keep providing the same consistent, elastic support wear after wear, over months and even years. For families, that means the system your therapist configures today still behaves the same way next season.
Who TheraTogs can help
TheraTogs is used across a wide range of diagnoses, including cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, spina bifida, ataxia, spinal muscular atrophy and scoliosis. In each case the goal is the same: better alignment and postural control as a foundation for freer, more confident movement. Whether it's the right tool for your child is exactly the kind of question a proper assessment answers — you can read more about how we use it on our TheraTogs method page.
Getting TheraTogs — and getting them fitted
TheraTogs is available worldwide through authorised distributors. At Apexa QLA Suisse you can order TheraTogs directly through our shop — but we always recommend pairing the purchase with advice from a certified therapist, so the sizing and strapping actually match your child's goals. A garment that fits beautifully but is configured for the wrong problem helps no one; a well-fitted system can quietly improve mobility and quality of life every single day. If you're unsure where to start, get in touch and we'll walk you through it.
